Colo. Blvd Food Truck Hub Hits Park Hill Every Thursday

Adra Williams

Mile High Festivals, event producers for Denver’s Juneteenth Music Festival, is launching a new community initiative with a two prong focus, feeding one of Denver’s historic food deserts and fighting youth gun violence.

In partnership with the Park Hill Golf Course Reimagined, a joint venture between The Holleran Group and Westside Investment Partners, the goal is to take a small step towards moving the needle on the lifestyle inequities experienced by this community by bringing diverse and healthy dining options without displacing the residents. Each week, Mile High Festivals will work with a community partner to provide meal vouchers to families from underserved communities such as Northeast Park Hill. Additionally, 10% of sales from the weekly gathering of food trucks will benefit the Mending Roots Forest Project, a nonprofit whose mission is to prevent youth gun violence by tackling the multiple social determinants of health related to gun violence.

“We realize the importance of inclusion when introducing new ideas to communities. Our goal is to serve the residents, not displace them,” says Norman Harris, founder and CEO of Mile High Festivals.

Each Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., resident patrons are invited to dine al fresco or pick up carry out from Denver’s largest weekly gathering of food trucks. On July 28th, the Colo. Blvd Food Truck Hub kicks off with a grand opening. Activities will include music, interactive activities such as a live community mural, henna, games and more. This will also include the first installation of #ParkHillEats Food Frenzie; a recurring flash activation where posting your drool worthy food truck bounty will score you a Colo. Blvd. Food Truck Hub essentials kit complete with a frisbee, koozies and more fun swag to up the ante on your outdoor dining experience.

Keep an eye out for your favorite food trucks in the rotating line-up or try a variety of ethnic and gourmet foods from food trucks such as Reggae Pot Express, Taste Of Soweto, All Beef Hot Dog Cart, and Simply Skewered Euro Food Pro, in a progressive  style dinner al fresco.  Picnic tables and umbrellas will be onsite. The Food Truck Hub presents a delicious opportunity to support minority food businesses as well as address issues that have plagued a vibrant Denver community for far too long.
