Fixins Soul Kitchen coming to Five Points
Fixins Soul Kitchen, the full-service soul food restaurant celebrating African American culture and traditions, is proud to announce its forthcoming location in Denver, set to open in early 2024. The new restaurant will join California restaurants in Sacramento's Oak Park and Downtown Los Angeles, as well as the recently opened Tulsa, Oklahoma location, which opened in May. Denver marks the second location outside of California as Fixins continues its national expansion across the United States.
Green Spaces Launches New Marketplace in RiNo Featuring 20 Local Vendors and Artists
Green Spaces, a community-driven collective aimed at supporting small businesses and creative entrepreneurs, is set to launch its newest addition, the Green Spaces Marketplace, on April 1. The fully leased small business incubator, located at 2590 Walnut St. in Denver's RiNo Art District, will house over 20 local vendors and artists and offer rental spaces for content creators, local retailers, and community events.
Race2Dinner creators release bestselling book “White Women” and documentary “Deconstructing Karen”
Regina Jackson and Saira Rao, the creators of Race2Dinner, a controversial project that invites white women to dinner to talk about race and their own racism, are set to release a New York Times bestseller and a documentary about Race2Dinner this month. Race2dinner has stirred up controversy after the trailer for their upcoming documentary “Deconstructing Karen” was released. Jackson and Rao are seen asking white women tough questions about race, like “Are you a racist?”. These questions visibly make the dinner participants uncomfortable, even sad, but this is the expected and intended response as Rao and Jackson seek to challenge and change “8 white women” at a time with their work.

Redbud Garden Center is Bringing the Beauty of Plants to the Whittier & Five Points Neighborhoods
Redbud is the passion project of co-owners and partners Tim Meany and Patrick Gonzalez. By day, Tim owns a local landscape business he has run for the last 36 years while Patrick works in software. Tim recalled driving by the lot that would later become the home to Redbud, thinking that the space would be perfect for a garden center. “I felt like the neighborhood was in need of a plant store,” said Tim, so he worked to create it. His goal is to transition to running the garden center full time to continue to invest in what he is truly passionate about.
Munchies and Mimosas’ Return to Five Points is Liquid Gold
Cameron Douglas, Collin Draine, Justin Murchison, Nahjee Maybin, Gabriel White, and Darryl Bufford were six guys who met in Denver from six different cities. They have formed a brotherhood and a fruitful business. Welton Street Cafe’s Last Moments in the Five Points Plaza bring hope and sadness
The storied Five Points restaurant, Welton Street Cafe, has been preparing to close its doors in the Five Points Plaza after decades of being in this location but they aren’t moving far. They will stay on Welton Street but move two blocks north into a brand new commercial space owned by Van West Partners. Unfortunately the transition will not be smooth as the build out for their new building will take an estimated 5 to 7 months and will be very expensive.
Five Points’ Newest Market ‘Melody Market’ Opens On Welton
Welton Street finally has a new convenience store after years of the Five Points Market being closed. Melody Market is now open and offers a slightly more upscale experience for shoppers and honors the history of Five Points throughout the store. Melody Market is a modern and welcoming store that offers residents and those who work in Five Points a convenient – and unique – shopping experience. You can find Melody Market right next to Coffee at the Point right at the point. The market is located at 2590 N. Washington Street.

Kwame Spearman, CEO of Tattered Cover envisions the bookstore's new location on 19th and Wazee in the brand-spanking new Mcgregor Square as a nod to the bookstore’s past while celebrating its future. City of Denver Survey Shows 4 in 5 Residents Want a Mix of Uses on Park Hill Golf Course
Recently released preliminary results from a survey conducted by the City of Denver on the Park Hill Golf Course in Northeast Park Hill revealed that 4 in 5 Denver residents want a mix of uses on the property. The top things that people wanted to see in their community included a grocery store (85% of local residents named this as a top 3 priority), affordable housing (67% of respondents) and a park with athletic fields (73% of local residents named this as a top 3 priority).
New Tequila & Taco Bar, Agave Shore, Opens on Welton
Opening this month, Agave Shore comes to Welton Street (in the Five Points Plaza) offering a vacation in the city. Agave Shore is the newest concept from hospitality veterans, LeJon Vivens, Chuck Jones, & Latasha Eugene. They have done restaurant and bar concepts all over Colorado but they have come to Five Points already making a huge wave.
