The Black House to be Activated as The Remix Pop-Up Market
The building affectionately known as the ‘black house’ by many in the community will house The Remix. The black house, once vacant, will be reawakened with a variety of clothing, shoes, accessories, jewelry, art & music.
Dream Solar and Pivot Energy donate Solar Energy to Local Businesses
A partnership between Dream Solar and Pivot Energy is donating 5 solar systems in historically Black and Brown Neighborhoods, to families and local businesses. They completed their first install this month. This system was given to Genna Rae's Wings and More, a local soul food restaurant. The solar system is expected to save the restaurant $250/month, allowing Genna Rae's to use those savings to help with operational expenses and savings for expansion.
The Hue-Man Experience returns to Denver through Tattered Cover Partnership
“At this point in my life, reviving the Hue-Man brand wasn’t something I had previously imagined. However, in light of recent events, the need for this sort of inclusive curation and focus on diversity in literature is as evident as ever. My goal for this partnership with Tattered Cover is to build awareness around important issues, while giving a voice to Black authors,” Villarosa explained.
Museum for Black Girls Returns in Five Points Location
This museum was initially intended to be a creative space but quickly transformed into a place where we can go to be that awkward black girl, wear our hair unapologetically and not be chastised or questioned. A place where we are celebrated and honored. A place for black women and girls to just simply be.
Two Best Friends Create Harlem of The West Hookah
Best friends for over twenty years, Brandon Bruce and Demitric Boykin launched the first hookah rental and catering service in Colorado that is “An experience like no other hookah experience.” Bruce says. While Bruce was a student at Morehouse, he took pleasure in going to hookah bars. “My favorite part of going to a hookah bar was the conversations that were created amongst friends and strangers”.
Unique corner store that celebrates local history set to open in Five Points
Melody Market will open in mid-April, providing residents and those who work in Five Points a convenient – and unique – shopping experience. The store will be located at 2950 N. Washington Street, in the heart of one of Denver’s most historic neighborhoods, and Melody Market will reflect that history.
Randall’s is back in New Five Points Location
This past month, the Denver community was able to experience some nostalgia as Randall’s made its return to the city with its signature Cajun and Creole Cuisine. Randall’s returns in a new location still in the heart of Five Points at 3349 York St, Denver, CO 80205.
Mimosas reopens with a New Chef
Now led by Chef Corey Smith, the refreshed menu at Mimosas will feature a spin on classic American breakfast fare with Southern undertones. Mimosas’ carefully curated menu will offer both creative indulgences and healthy options, and of course, a thirst-quenching assortment of its namesake cocktail, as well as Bellinis, Piña Coladas and more.

James Beard Book Award winner Adrian Miller is releasing his newest book Black Smoke: African Americans and the United States of Barbecue, celebrating the stories of the Black men and women who have shaped American barbecue, on April 27, 2021. Downtown Denver Partnership courts investment for a Five Points-led Welton Street Renaissance
The Downtown Denver Partnership’s annual leadership program (DDLP) is seeking to raise north of $500K for a Five Points-led Welton Street Renaissance Project. This project will fund murals, streetscapes, outdoor stages, live performances and long-term infrastructure projects along Denver’s African-American business corridor. Mayor Michael B Hancock has enthusiastically endorsed the project.

Today, we launched our digital shop with the help of Chicks that Print, a local black-woman-owned print company. Through this shop, we provide you a way to show your pride in Five Points. We will frequently drop new designs inspired by our great neighborhood. Of course the prices are a little marked up to bring in some extra money to support the paper but currently, we have some great Black Friday Deals!
Five Point’s new clothing Storefront False Ego has no ego
This fall, Five Points gained an exciting new black-owned clothing line that uses eco-friendly material and is environmentally responsible. In the age of social media and e-commerce, this brand opened a brick & mortar location. The shop is located at 2650 Walnut Street.
Five Points welcomes a new music studio with a bold vision
Last month, Mike Millard and his business partner Dre Lane relocated Get Busy Livin’ (GBL) studios to Five Points in the Five Points Plaza and are ready for artists to book their sessions.
