Get Busy Livin’ started as a catchy phrase that co-owner Mike Millard’s father had tattooed on his body. In 2017, the idea of the phrase becoming a recording studio started and in 2018 they opened their first location in Lakewood, Colorado. Last month, Mike Millard and his business partner Dre Lane relocated Get Busy Livin’ (GBL) studios to Five Points in the Five Points Plaza and are ready for artists to book their sessions.

Since 2018, they have been working to evolve Denver’s upcoming artists to their next level through proper marketing with their PR team and handcrafted beats to fit the artists specifically. The future vision for this space is to educate and train youth through a quarterly curriculum. The curriculum will include courses on fashion, film, videography and songwriting & production. The plan is to become a hub for creators. GBL is currently seeking donations to ensure the art program is developed thoroughly with industry experts and has the best quality resources in the game. They also want to provide the program to the community at low rates and, if possible, for free. The men behind GBL have all felt what it is like to be without, so they want to give back to the community now that they are in the position to do so.

Get Busy Livin’ will be hosting a fundraiser and mixer soon to bring together local business owners, entrepreneurs and community members to meet, get to know one another to promote this Arts Program. Due to COVID-19, the date has been pushed back and is to be determined.

Get Busy Livin’ Studios is where the major hit, “I Can’t Breathe Again” was recorded by artist Ameazy. Beyond being an artist, Ameazy also plays the role as Mike and Dre’s right hand man especially during this relocation with his expertise in producing, writing music and assisting artists with developing their sound. D-Trait, another producer and artist at the studio ensures each artist leaves with a hit that is fitting to them “like a glove.”

GBL also produces film and TV. Wiz, who is a film director and videographer, has received three independent film awards with the help of GBL studios. Wiz and other videographers are available to craft music videos as well as shows and movies for aspiring writers. When it comes to barriers to production, GBL studios is here to break them!

The men behind GBL have a large vision and want to positively contribute to the community. Feel free to reach out to them on Instagram, @getbusylivinstudios.To donate, please go to getbusylivinstudios.com.
