Five Points Neighborhood Transportation Program (NTMP) Update
You might have noticed a lot of traffic safety improvements in Five Points and there is more to come.
Several mobility and safety projects are coming to the Five Points neighborhood this Fall! These projects are a result of the Five Points NTMP Action Plan and include traffic calming, pedestrian safety enhancements, bikeway improvements, and the pedestrian plaza expansion
Tale of two Five Points: What to do about RiNo?
Love it or hate it, RiNo (The River North Arts District) has grown beyond being just an arts-based Business Improvement District both statistically and in the everyday narrative. Everyday residents and visitors in the RiNo area don’t believe or understand that they are in Five Points. When they describe where they live it is just easier to say RiNo. RiNo has become a distinct geographic area where over 10,000 people live. It is distinct enough from the other parts of Five Points to be considered a neighborhood in its own right. Hear me out, the encyclopedia defines a neighborhood as such:

For the purpose of comparison, I matched census tract numbers with the 3 sub neighborhoods to clearly see disparities within Five Points. It is important that we speak the same language and understand the same set of facts about the neighborhood before jumping to conclusions and making policy recommendations. In future pieces, I will be sharing my own recommendations and encourage readers to make their own assumptions and plans for action, but first let’s take a hard look at The Data.
The Culture Museum to Open in Five Points Neighborhood
The Culture Museum, a new immersive, multi-room art installation is coming to the RiNo Art District in Five Points. Dedicated to elevating and celebrating iconic moments in Black culture, the museum will provide opportunities for Black artists and creatives along with a platform to educate new audiences in Denver.

The 2nd annual Five Points Holiday Stroll returns Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 3pm-6pm
DDP Welton Street Renaissance Project hosting an unveiling of the Five Points Outdoor Mural Gallery
The Downtown Denver Partnership Welton Street Renaissance Project is hosting an unveiling of the Five Points Outdoor Mural Gallery on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 6pm. This project is a joint creation of the Downtown Denver Partnership Welton Street Renaissance Project and Rob the Art Museum's Black Love Mural Festival, sponsored by Full Contact, Holder Construction, The FlyFisher Group, BKD CPAs & Advisors, Golub & Company. The Mural Gallery is one installment of the larger Welton Street Renaissance Project which aims to bring more public art and activated public spaces to Five Points, Denver to support the existing African-American-owned businesses and highlight Denver’s history of Jazz and Black Excellence.
New Tequila & Taco Bar, Agave Shore, Opens on Welton
Opening this month, Agave Shore comes to Welton Street (in the Five Points Plaza) offering a vacation in the city. Agave Shore is the newest concept from hospitality veterans, LeJon Vivens, Chuck Jones, & Latasha Eugene. They have done restaurant and bar concepts all over Colorado but they have come to Five Points already making a huge wave.
The Hue-Man Experience returns to Denver through Tattered Cover Partnership
“At this point in my life, reviving the Hue-Man brand wasn’t something I had previously imagined. However, in light of recent events, the need for this sort of inclusive curation and focus on diversity in literature is as evident as ever. My goal for this partnership with Tattered Cover is to build awareness around important issues, while giving a voice to Black authors,” Villarosa explained.
New Five Points Non-profit, The Underdog Family, gives free tech support and more to local Businesses
Since that day in June, The Underdog Family has grown rapidly from merely an idea in an apartment complex off 26th and Welton, to an absolute force of a business development machine for our local businesses. With the leadership of TUF’s two other board members, Derrick Knudsen and Darian Nocera, the Underdog Family has grown to eight businesses, 17 operational leads, and a volunteer network of 117. Their mission is to cultivate a stronger community by highlighting the gems within it, which is accomplished by collaborating with mission driven businesses who believe our community is stronger when every member has an equal opportunity to succeed.
Museum for Black Girls Returns in Five Points Location
This museum was initially intended to be a creative space but quickly transformed into a place where we can go to be that awkward black girl, wear our hair unapologetically and not be chastised or questioned. A place where we are celebrated and honored. A place for black women and girls to just simply be.

Downtown Denver Partnership courts investment for a Five Points-led Welton Street Renaissance
The Downtown Denver Partnership’s annual leadership program (DDLP) is seeking to raise north of $500K for a Five Points-led Welton Street Renaissance Project. This project will fund murals, streetscapes, outdoor stages, live performances and long-term infrastructure projects along Denver’s African-American business corridor. Mayor Michael B Hancock has enthusiastically endorsed the project.

Come down to Five Points for the Holiday Stroll
With Thanksgiving behind us, many families are officially getting into the holiday spirit. Luckily, this Saturday, December 5th, there is a great event happening right here in Five Points to help usher in the season. The Five Points Holiday Stroll is this Saturday from 3 to 6 pm and will offer families the opportunity to participate in classic holiday traditions like kinara making for Kwanzaa as well as shop and support local businesses.

Five Points Atlas launches an online store featuring Five Points Forever Gear
Today, we launched our digital shop with the help of Chicks that Print, a local black-woman-owned print company. Through this shop, we provide you a way to show your pride in Five Points. We will frequently drop new designs inspired by our great neighborhood. Of course the prices are a little marked up to bring in some extra money to support the paper but currently, we have some great Black Friday Deals!
