Soul Street on Clarkson set to open this month

Kwon Atlas

With support of the City, the Five Points Business Improvement District has created Soul Street on Clarkson, a new outdoor dining area for the businesses in the Five Points Plaza. Behind the plaza on the closed Clarkson street is a new, lush and colorful hang out area where you can enjoy your food and drinks from 715, Agave Shore, Spangalang, Mimosas, Duke’s and more. This project is part of the outdoor patio expansion program but it will transition to a communal dining space and eventually one of Denver’s first open consumption zones. Patrons should expect more activations and uses of the space: music, vendors, performances and other events. Members of the city's community planning office, the Five Points BID, residents and the business owners volunteered on April 23rd to build and create the space, saving thousands of dollars in labor. The streetscape mural that underlies the space was created by Thomas ‘Detour’ Evans, who created the large “Legends” mural on the back of the Five Points Plaza, creating a beautiful and unified aesthetic. Businesses are expected to begin using the space this month. This is one of many transportation infrastructure changes coming to Five Points this summer.
