Fixins Soul Kitchen coming to Five Points

Fixins Soul Kitchen, the full-service soul food restaurant celebrating African American culture and traditions, is proud to announce its forthcoming location in Denver, set to open in early 2024. The new restaurant will join California restaurants in Sacramento's Oak Park and Downtown Los Angeles, as well as the recently opened Tulsa, Oklahoma location, which opened in May. Denver marks the second location outside of California as Fixins continues its national expansion across the United States.

Green Spaces Launches New Marketplace in RiNo Featuring 20 Local Vendors and Artists

Green Spaces, a community-driven collective aimed at supporting small businesses and creative entrepreneurs, is set to launch its newest addition, the Green Spaces Marketplace, on April 1. The fully leased small business incubator, located at 2590 Walnut St. in Denver's RiNo Art District, will house over 20 local vendors and artists and offer rental spaces for content creators, local retailers, and community events.

Wakanda on Welton

November 10-16th, The Five Points BID will be bringing a Wakanda Experience to Welton Street in celebration of the upcoming release of Black Panther 2, on November 11th. The first Black Panther was a blockbuster Marvel movie that proudly celebrated African-American and African culture and traditions, and greatly promoted Hip-hop, Afrobeats, and African music, as well as the principle of global African diaspora unity. The Five Points Business Improvement District seeks “to bring this celebration” to Five Points, specifically Welton street, given its own historic significance in African-American history.

The 2022 Five Points Jazz Festival Performers

Denver Arts & Venues is pleased to announce the performers for the annual Five Points Jazz Festival returning in-person, Saturday, June 4, noon to 11 p.m., to celebrate the music, culture and roots of Denver’s historic Five Points neighborhood.

The culturally diverse festival showcases everything from smooth jazz to bop to swing to funk, and takes place on Welton Street between 25th and 29th streets, and features 50 bands playing live music on 11 stages throughout the day. Five Points Jazz Festival will kick off with a parade down Welton Street at noon.

MLB Allstar-Weekend in Five Points Brings Jazz, A Baseball Legends Mural and More

There is a lot of excitement this month with Major League Baseball’s Allstar-Weekend coming to Denver. MLB and the City and County of Denver have been intentional about creating a fun and inclusive weekend of events and leaving behind a lasting positive effect in the community. MLB is hosting a 5k downtown to promote exercise and a healthy lifestyle and they are commissioning two baseball-theme murals in Five Points, one in Ballpark and one in historic Five Points.
